Registered since May 1995 as an Association at the Court of Strasbourg,
benefiting from the local Code of Law, the Association is composed
of:
European Board
- Executive Committee, 1 National Coordinator from each member country,
4 representatives of the 3 European Institutions, and the EBU, 5
individual members elected by the Board.

ACTIVITY
ANNUAL
CONFERENCE
An Annual Conference
has been organised since 1983 by a member
station. A genuine European forum for
professionals from the audiovisual industry,
fostering exchange between CR members and
other mass media specialists, all of them
involved in the key role and development
of the audiovisual industry on a regional,
national and international level.
On the agenda :
• the PRIX CIRCOM Regional awards,
variety of theme workshops = development
of new trades and technology, regional news
and production, coproductions, viewings,
training seminar,
• meetings of the European Board and Executive
Committee: consultation and decisions about
the Association's major strategies.
Conferences: representing CR and active participation at
conferences and seminars on the audiovisual industry in Europe:
Observer status at the CDMM, written papers, campaign against racism,
intolerance and xenophobia, launched by the Council of Europe: "all
different, all equal"...
VOCATIONAL
TRAINING

Policy of openness and providing active support
for Central and East European Countries:
First international television organisation
to accept as members Central and Eastern
Europe (1988). CIRCOM Regional is committed
to providing funds from its own resources
to enable delegates to attend conferences
and meetings and take part in coproductions
and programme exchange.
Audiovisual training for journalists
and technicians:
Sessions regularly organised since 1994
by an international team of trainers from
CR members - ARD/BR Munich, BBC, Thomson
Foundation, FRANCE 3 Formation, RAI,
with the backing of the PHARE and TACIS
programmes of the European Commission and
the Council of Europe.
CR organised a training programme
for colleagues from Eastern Europe during
the 1994 Annual Conference in Iasi - Romania:
45 trainees from 7 East European TVs.
In the wake of this success, training sessions
have taken place in Birmingham - U.K, Bucharest,
Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca - Romania, Zagreb
- Croatia, in Bornholm - Denmark and Budapest
- Hungary on " ethnic minorities ",
Szeged
- Hungary, Thessaloniki
- Greece, Cavtat
- Croatia, Potsdam
- Germany, Porto
- Portugal, Kosice
- Slovakia, Grado
- Italy, Wroclaw - Poland.
In Strasbourg - France, every year since
2000, a "European Seminar on
Newsroom Management" is organised
during the European Parliamentary Session.
CIRCOM Regional is stepping up East-West
cooperation and in 1997 set up the Board
of Governors headed by Roel DIJKHUIS
and coordinated by Rick THOMPSON until 2001
and by Thomson Foundation since 2002.

PRIX
CIRCOM Regional
The PRIX CIRCOM Regional is awarded each year to
the best European programmes. It is the
most important distinction for Regional
Television Programmes.
Open to all members, this contest brings
together various productions coming under
different headings: documentaries, news
programmes, news magazines, fiction, cross-border
programmes or programmes for young people,
innovative programmes by young producers
etc.
The jury is made up of 12 professionals
together with a President (1989-99: Jürgen
Hassel WDR Köln - Germany, 1999- : David
Lowen - United Kingdom), to award the Prix,
funded by CIRCOM Regional, the European
Parliament, Committee of the Regions, France3,
TVP.

COPRODUCTIONS,
PROGRAMME EXCHANGE
Since its creation CIRCOM Regional has carried
out over:
* 250 varied coproductions: news magazines, cross-border
and theme programmes, programmes for young people, documentaries,
music festivals etc.
* 650 specific programmes
Participation exclusive to members, with themes they themselves
propose:
- Unique Opportunity for coproductions
and programme exchange between the regions;
- Best way of cutting costs while retaining
and improving quality;
- Special support funds from the European Institutions;
- Cross-border
magazines and coproductions
